Save Your Laptop Battery
Obviously the first step would be changing the power settings of your battery to something like "Power Saver". This minimizes the amount of power your laptop drains from it's batteries. Note that this will most definitely reduce the performance of your laptop. Be warned!!
When possible remove all USB attachments as they drain power to function even when they are not needed. The mouse, wireless receivers all drain power and can lead to disastrous results.
